HOW TO KEEP MY STUDENTS FOCUS

I have always thought how can I grab the attention of my weak students and keep them focus during and after my class is over. Struggling learners need extra remediation not for learning concepts thorouughly but to build their confidence to work independently when alone. They are basically shy in nature. We all use so many different methods to teach but the struggling learners needs a methods that purely need to break any concept into chunks which follows a logical order which help them to think of a goal to achieve. They are afraid to set their goal if their teacher cannot help them to learn as best as they can to maximise they understanding of the concepts. While teaching in class I just concentrate in explaining the concept well through various examples and real life experiences as far as possible. Comprehension of the problems is taken care with clear crystal explanation allowing the kids to ask as many doubts that arise in their mind. Time is not wasted teaching this way. The regular students along with the struggling learners feel satisfied in class and tend not to miss the class any longer. a boring topic is also turned into an interesting one. The beauty of the subject is conveyed so that the students arrive at a correct answer keeping in mind the teaching by way of chunking. Students see the connection between words and numbers. Students realise how important it is applied in everyday life.

Remediation class after school hours turns out to be successful since my learners are more independent. They do not seem to be troubled with 'difficult' questions since they follow a logical method strictly. Careless mistakes do not matter for them. They are confident enough to assistant their peers when struck. They readily raise their hands during regular class periods and feel proud.
